Research interests and visits

Joan Muysken is Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Universiteit Maastricht. He studied quantitative economics at the University of Groningen and obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Groningen on the aggregation of production functions. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Oslo in 1980 for three months and in 1983 he stayed at the SUNY Buffalo (USA) as an assistant professor for eight months. From January till July 1989 he stayed at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) as a visiting professor. He also stayed as a visiting professor at the ZEW, Mannheim during March 2000 and at the WZB, Berlin during May 2000, and at the research institute CofFEE of the University of Newcastle, Australia on various occasions. He is director of CofFEE-Europe.

His research interests are (in general): wage formation, labour demand, matching problems, analysis of unemployment and endogenous growth and diffusion of technologies.
